German Armed Forces

About us/ What we stand for as a diverse company

The Bundeswehr is a diverse employer. All members of the Bundeswehr commit themselves to the Basic Law and the fundamental values of the Federal Republic of Germany with their pledge or oath. This canon of values also determines conduct in the service.

The Rainbow Career Services are important to us because...

... Diversity is important to us! Women*, men*, people with a migration background, with disabilities, queer people, older and younger: they are all a valuable part of the armed forces, fill the force with life, represent the diversity of the Bundeswehr and strengthen its ties to the - diverse - society. We are presenting ourselves at the Rainbow Career Day in Cologne because we believe in the strength of diversity and stand up for it.

We are already implementing the following diversity measures in our company:

Freedom, equality, democracy, human dignity and the rule of law: the basic principles of coexistence in the Federal Republic of Germany are laid down in the Basic Law. They are the common denominator that applies to all citizens of the Federal Republic. This system of norms and rules is known as the free democratic basic order (FDGO). The Bundeswehr defends the territorial integrity of Germany and the FDGO. Every soldier vows to bravely defend the Federal Republic of Germany and its values. Those in uniform* are also subject to the duty of loyalty, which means that every soldier must not only recognize the FDGO in the sense of the Basic Law, but must also stand up for its preservation through his / her* entire conduct. Furthermore, diversity in the Bundeswehr is seen as part of the leadership and organizational culture. The Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) has its own "Equal Opportunities and Diversity" department, which coordinates projects and measures for diversity management in the Bundeswehr at a strategic level.
