Bundeswehr

About Us/ What We Stand For As a Diverse Company
The Bundeswehr is a diverse employer. All members of the Bundeswehr, through their oath of enlistment or their pledge, commit themselves to the Basic Law and the fundamental values of the Federal Republic of Germany. This canon of values also governs conduct in service.
Rainbow Career Services are important to us because…
... Diversity is important to us!
Women*, men*, people with a migratory background, people with disabilities, queer individuals, older and younger people: they are all a valuable part of the armed forces, bring life to the troops, represent the diversity of the Bundeswehr, and strengthen its connection to the – diverse – society.
We are presenting ourselves at the Rainbow Career Day in Cologne because we believe in the strength of diversity and stand for it.
We are already implementing the following diversity measures in our company:
Freedom, equality, democracy, human dignity, and the rule of law: The fundamental principles of coexistence in the Federal Republic of Germany are enshrined in the Basic Law. They are the common denominator that applies to all citizens of the Federal Republic. This system of norms and rules is referred to as the liberal-democratic basic order (FDGO).
The Bundeswehr defends Germany's territorial integrity and the FDGO. Every soldier pledges to bravely defend the Federal Republic of Germany and its values. Furthermore, uniformed personnel are subject to a duty of loyalty, which means that every soldier must not only recognize the FDGO in the sense of the Basic Law but must also uphold its preservation through their entire conduct.
In addition, diversity within the Bundeswehr is considered an integral part of leadership and organizational culture. The Federal Ministry of Defence (BMVg) has a dedicated unit, "Equal Opportunity and Diversity," which coordinates diversity management projects and measures within the Bundeswehr at a strategic level.
