International School of Luxembourg

Über uns/ Dafür stehen wir als vielfältiges Unternehmen

At ISL, our mission is to ensure that everyone in the community becomes inspired, resilient and passionate about achieving what matters, anywhere in the world. As part of this mission, the School works to ensure that all International School of Luxembourg staff members feel valued, respected, cared for, and empowered to be their best professional selves. Our Vision is for a school that: ISL is a leader in international education, known for academic excellence, personal development, extraordinary teaching, and diverse learning experiences. Our school shall bring to life the best of Luxembourg and international education – creativity, innovation, inclusion, global-mindedness and sustainability. At ISL, we believe that each member of the community deserves an accepting, safe learning environment. All community members, regardless of their gender identity, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic background, deserve to feel equally valued, seen and heard. Having a diverse, equitable, inclusive community benefits individuals and strengthens the community. Accordingly, we commit to explicitly embedding a diversity, equity, inclusion and justice lens in our organisational culture and our educational practices. ISL is committed to fostering the well-being and progress of every child and providing a dynamic working and learning environment in which all members of the school community are valued equally for their contribution and individuality. In order to ensure that our school community is one in which these values flourish, ISL is guided by the following principles: • Every member of our community is of equal value. Everyone should feel safe, accepted and welcome. • We recognise, respect and value diversity as a strength. • We foster positive attitudes and relationships and ensure everyone is welcomed within our school community. • We provide an environment free from discrimination in any form (e.g. bullying, harassment or victimisation). We hold ourselves accountable and we do not tolerate retaliation in any form. • We will recognise, challenge and dismantle systemic and institutionalised barriers. The wider community and society should benefit from our policies and practices. • We follow best practices in fostering diversity, equity, inclusion and justice in staff recruitment, retention, continuing professional development, and cessation of employment. • We follow best practices in student recruitment, enrolment and admissions. • The school’s curriculum actively and deliberately takes account of and teaches about diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice. • The school’s communications, operations, budgets and physical spaces reflect our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice.

Die Rainbow-Career-Services sind uns wichtig, weil…

The Rainbow Career Service is important to us because it will help us to reach a broader audience. We believe that all our students should be able to look around them and to see at least one adult (and preferably more) who is like them. In order to achieve this, we need to have a staff which is as diverse as possible.

Schon jetzt leben wir die nachfolgenden Diversity-Maßnahmen in unserem Unternehmen:

We have an active DEIJ committee which is split into three sub-committees: Community Learning, Celebration & Belonging, and Culture & Practice. There are approximately 50 volunteers who are involved on these sub-committees. In the school year 2024-25, ISL had a DEIJ culture audit done with the help of an external consultant and now we are working through the recommendations that came out of this audit.
