German Weather Service

About us/ What we stand for as a diverse company
The DWD's diversity vision is to create a diverse and inclusive working environment in which everyone is respected and valued and feels a sense of belonging. Our diversity work therefore focuses on people in all their diversity and individuality. We understand diversity to mean the equal dignity of all people, regardless of the characteristics of individual dimensions of diversity. Openness, respect, and acceptance are the guiding values to which we are fully committed. We have been a signatory to the Diversity Charter since 2016.
The Rainbow Career Services are important to us because...
...we incorporate all dimensions of diversity, including sexual orientation and gender identity, into our holistic approach. Our queer corporate network BUNT@DWD is particularly well represented. Together with Diversity Management, the network advocates for queer issues and an appreciative and discrimination-free working environment. For two years, it has regularly initiated the CSD Weather campaign—weather forecasts for CSD parades in various large cities—and was awarded the Queer Network Award 2025 in the "Rising Star" category by the PROUT AT WORK Foundation for this and other achievements. We are delighted to now also be able to attend queer career fairs as part of Rainbow Career Day.
We are already implementing the following diversity measures in our company:
Our measures are diverse and relate to our three strategic areas of action—raising awareness, ensuring framework conditions and activities, and remaining credible. We are currently focusing on the topic of physical and mental abilities and have developed an action plan with eleven measures relating to inclusion and accessibility, as well as an e-learning course on inclusive leadership. In addition to BUNT@DWD, the CuDi@DWD (Cultural Diversity) network represents intercultural issues. We have also created our own diversity glossary for our learning platform and regularly raise awareness with various activities on Diversity Day and other important occasions.
