University of Cologne

About Us/ What We Stand For As a Diverse Company

We make a difference! The University of Cologne is actively committed to diversity and equal opportunities and has implemented a wide range of structures and measures in many areas of university activity. We promote an organizational culture in which the individual, social, and cultural diversity of our students and employees is understood as an enrichment and a mark of quality.

Rainbow Career Services are important to us because…

...we pursue the following key objectives: • Promoting equal opportunities for access to studies and professional development in science and administration • Further developing a leadership and work culture in which equal opportunities and the compatibility of family, studies, and work are quality features • Increasing transparency in staffing appointments, committee elections, and funding measures • Raising awareness of and dismantling structural discrimination • Investing in accessible and family-friendly infrastructures • Promoting diversity-related research and teaching

We are already implementing the following diversity measures in our company:

As part of the "Shaping Diversity“ audit (2017-2018), the University of Cologne (UzK) developed its „Strategy for Equal Opportunities“ through a university-wide process. The principle of participation, the goal of empowerment, an intersectional perspective, and ensuring sustainability served as guiding principles for the strategy's development. Equal opportunities form the conceptual framework under which the already well-established pillars of gender equality and family-friendliness are represented and intertwined with the fields of action for inclusion, educational equity, anti-discrimination, and anti-racism.
