(Senior) Operations Engineer (m/f/d)

The Corporate IT Services division is responsible for planning, setting up, and operating the group-wide internal IT infrastructure for over 11,000 employees within the United Internet Group. The Linux Application Operations team operates central, business-critical services—including the group-wide LDAP and Identity & Access Management—in accordance with DevOps principles. Our foundation consists of Linux systems, modern automation (Ansible, CI/CD), Kubernetes, and the continuous transformation of our services toward cloud readiness.

In this role, you will assume central responsibility for the secure, stable, and future-proof operation of the LDAP infrastructure as well as the further development of the Linux system landscape toward the cloud.

- You will be responsible for the stable operation, further development, and hardening of a highly available LDAP infrastructure (e.g., OpenLDAP) and ensure the trouble-free operation of Linux servers and applications.
- You will plan, design, and implement HA, redundancy, and security solutions for LDAP and related services, and carry out maintenance windows, security updates, and release planning.
- You will analyze and resolve issues at the system, network, and application levels, including structured log analysis.
- You will design, test, and implement new solutions and architectures, particularly in the context of cloud transformation and cloud readiness.
- You will provide technical support for international rollouts and drive continuous automation using Ansible, shell, or Python scripts, including integration into CI/CD processes.

Desired additional qualifications

You have extensive experience in the administration and operation of large Linux environments on hardware and virtualization platforms, as well as in-depth expertise in the configuration, security, and troubleshooting of LDAP systems. In addition, you possess the following qualifications: - You have excellent knowledge of at least one of the following technologies: LDAP, Ansible, Kubernetes, or Terraform, and you confidently use scripting languages such as Python and Bash for automation. - You have experience working with monitoring and version control systems such as Checkmk and GitHub Enterprise. - You possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, maintain a clear overview even in complex situations, and work in a structured, responsible, and team-oriented manner. - You are characterized by quick comprehension, a strong willingness to learn, and excellent written and spoken German and English skills. - You are willing to participate in on-call duty as part of a team rotation.
