Freedom, equality, justice, solidarity and tolerance - the AWO has stood for these values for over a hundred years. Tolerance towards people of different origins, different genders, different lifestyles and cultures is part of our "DNA" and is firmly rooted in the history of the AWO. By founding the AWO in 1919, Marie Juchacz set a strong example for equal rights for women and for the struggle of underprivileged workers in the Weimar Republic in a patriarchal era. However, our commitment to diversity is far more than just a historical legacy or an advantage for our employees - even though we know that the cosmopolitan, tolerant atmosphere was a decisive factor in many colleagues deciding to join the AWO. We are an independent and autonomous member association. Based on our values, we fight together with members, committed individuals and employees for a just society based on solidarity. We fight for a democratic society in diversity and treat all people with respect.

The AWO sees the strengthening of democracy and diversity in society as its fundamental mission. It stands up for the AWO's basic values of freedom, equality, justice, solidarity and tolerance and is firmly opposed to racism, exclusion and discrimination. In order to shape a diverse society, it acts in accordance with the principle of inclusion. We focus on diversity in our teams and welcome all facets of life.
