Bristol Myers Squibb

About Us/ What We Stand For As a Diverse Company

Inclusion and diversity are central values for us and an integral part of the corporate culture at Bristol Myers Squibb. As a research-based pharmaceutical company, we work every day to improve patients' lives through research and science. This requires an open work environment where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential. We are proud that we have been recognized with the PRIDE Champion Seal in Gold, among other accolades, on this journey.

Rainbow Career Services are important to us because…

For Bristol Myers Squibb, engaging with the LGBTQ+ community is important for several reasons. Among them, we firmly believe that diverse teams can achieve better and more creative results through varied perspectives – which is absolutely essential for us as an innovation-driven company. Furthermore, we value an inspiring and motivating work environment where all employees can develop freely and be their authentic selves. To achieve this, it is also important to understand and include the perspectives of the queer community.

We are already implementing the following diversity measures in our company:

Bristol Myers Squibb employs a comprehensive inclusion and diversity strategy, with progress documented through regular reports (e.g., the global Inclusion & Diversity Report). A key component of this is the PRIDE Alliance, one of several People & Business Resource Groups (PBRGs) within the company. This group works to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and to support and represent the concerns of the community. To ensure these issues are strategically aligned and receive the necessary visibility, the PRIDE Alliance and all other PBRGs are directly integrated with senior management. Among other initiatives, the PRIDE Alliance organizes offerings for employees such as „Safe Zone“ workshops: a protected space to discuss questions about sexuality and gender. These workshops are particularly important for employees who wish to engage as allies to queer individuals. Additionally, the PRIDE colleagues offer information events with input from external speakers or joint exhibition visits. Furthermore, Bristol Myers Squibb actively signals its commitment to diversity and tolerance externally, for example, through participation in PRIDE Month, Christopher Street Day, or corresponding communication on company channels – which, incidentally, uses gender-sensitive language. For this commitment, Bristol Myers Squibb has most recently been awarded the PRIDE Champion Seal in Gold three times in a row.
