University of Cologne

About us/ What we stand for as a diverse company
We make the difference!
The University of Cologne is actively committed to diversity and equal opportunities and has implemented a wide range of structures and measures in many areas of university activity. We promote an organizational culture in which the individual, social and cultural diversity of our students and employees is seen as an enrichment and a sign of quality.
The Rainbow Career Services are important to us because...
...we pursue the following key objectives:
- The promotion of equal access to study and professional development in science and administration
- The further development of a management and work culture in which equal opportunities and the compatibility of family, studies and career are quality features
- Increasing transparency in appointments, committee elections and support measures
- Raising awareness of and reducing structural discrimination
- Investing in barrier-free and family-friendly infrastructures
- Promoting diversity-related research and teaching
We are already implementing the following diversity measures in our company:
As part of the "Shaping Diversity" audit (2017-2018), the UoC developed its "Strategy for Equal Opportunities" in a university-wide process. The principle of participation, the goal of empowerment, an intersectional perspective and ensuring sustainability served as guiding principles in the development of the strategy.
Equal opportunities forms the conceptual umbrella under which the already well-established pillars of equality and family friendliness are mapped and interlinked with the fields of action of inclusion, educational equality, anti-discrimination and criticism of racism.
Insights into our fields of action can be found on our website: vielfalt.uni-koeln.de
